What Insurance Does Norwalk Vision Center Accept? Plus: Copays and Deductibles Explained

Navigating vision and medical insurance can feel like learning a new language. But at Norwalk Vision Center, we make it easy. Dr. David Folman and our friendly staff are here to ensure you understand your insurance benefits—so you can focus on your eye health, not fine print.

Insurance Plans We Accept

We believe high-quality eye care should be accessible and affordable. That’s why Norwalk Vision Center accepts a wide range of both medical and vision insurance plans:

Medical Insurance Providers:

  • granny glasses book sofa 1280Aetna
  • Anthem
  • Blue Cross
  • Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • Connecticare
  • Harvard Pilgrim
  • Medicare
  • Oxford
  • UnitedHealthcare

Vision Insurance:

  • VSP (Vision Service Plan) – We’re proud to be in-network for VSP, one of the most popular vision plans.

Helpful Tip:

Even if we’re in-network for your medical insurance but out-of-network for your vision plan, you can still use your medical coverage for your eye exam—especially if it involves a medical diagnosis or symptoms like blurry vision, dry eyes, or eye strain.

Out-of-Network? We've Still Got You Covered

If your vision insurance plan is out-of-network, you’re not out of options. In fact, many patients are pleasantly surprised by the savings we offer:

  • 30% off glasses
  • 20% off a full year’s supply of contact lenses

These discounts can be just as good—or sometimes even better—than what some in-network plans offer!

Copays vs. Deductibles: What Do They Mean?

We get it—insurance terms can be confusing. Here’s a quick breakdown of the two most common ones:

Copay

A copay is a fixed amount you pay during your visit, typically required by your insurance for covered services. As an example, if your plan requires a $25 copay for a medical eye exam, you’ll pay that amount at the time of your appointment.

Deductible

Your deductible is the annual amount you must pay out-of-pocket for covered services before your insurance starts sharing the costs. Let’s look at an example:

If you have a $500 deductible and haven’t met it yet, you may be responsible for more of the visit cost. Once your deductible is met, insurance usually covers more—often at a reduced, negotiated rate.

How It Works When You Visit Us

Here’s what typically happens when you come in for care at Norwalk Vision Center:

  1. You pay your copay at the time of your visit (if your plan requires one).
  2. We bill your insurance for the remaining amount.
  3. If you haven’t met your deductible, your responsibility may be higher.
  4. If your deductible is met, insurance may cover most or all of the remaining charges.

Our front desk team will walk you through it so there are no surprises.
